Holistic and highly personalised care from
experienced and caring osteopaths
About Us
Yarra Ranges Osteopathy began in 2000 as a family clinic back when Mooroolbark housed almost 19,000 people, we worked with paper files and there was a train line running directly across Manchester Road.
Fast forward 25 years and we are still doing what we love, treating the local families of Mooroolbark (now over 23,000 people) and surrounding suburbs. Our clinic now uses cloud-based software; we have a gym room and modern shockwave therapy; the interior and exterior have both been renovated but one thing remains the same, we are here to help the community with all of their musculoskeletal concerns.

FAQ
What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a holistic form of manual therapy that focuses on the whole body — not just the site of pain or discomfort. It’s based on the principle that the body’s structure and function are closely connected, and that when one area is restricted or imbalanced, it can affect your overall health and wellbeing.
Osteopaths are highly trained healthcare professionals who use hands-on techniques to support the body’s natural ability to move, heal, and function at its best. Treatment may include soft tissue massage, stretching, joint mobilisation, and lifestyle advice — all tailored to your unique needs.
Whether you’re dealing with a specific injury or simply want to move and feel better in your body, osteopathy offers a tailored and effective approach to healthcare.
Want to know if osteopathy is right for you? Contact us or book an appointment today — we’re here to help.
What do osteopaths treat?
Osteopaths treat a wide range of conditions including back and neck pain, headaches, shoulder and elbow pain, hip, knee and ankle pain, arthritis, pelvic pain, frozen shoulder, plantar fasciitis, sciatica, sports injuries, Whiplash, jaw pain, Osteoarthritis, pregnancy-related discomfort, postural concerns, and joint or muscle issues.
We take the time to understand the root cause of your symptoms and work with you to create a personalised treatment plan that supports long-term health.
What does it cost to see an osteopath?

We offer bulk-billing for GPCCMPs with no gap fee with some of our practitioners. Speak to your doctor or give us a call for more information.

Who can see an osteopath?
While anyone can see an osteopath our osteopaths will happily treat anyone over the age of 4, if you are looking for help with children younger than this, we are more than happy to point you in the right direction.
What to expect from your first consultation?
Your first osteopathic consultation is a thorough and personalised one-hour session designed to understand your current health and wellbeing.
It begins with completing a new patient form to gather your health history and contact details. We will then discuss your current complaint, medical history, lifestyle and treatment goals in detail.
The hands-on physical examination involves thoroughly assessing your movement by guiding you through specific motions and carefully moving parts of your body to identify areas of tension, restriction, tenderness, or weakness.
After the assessment, we will share our findings and discuss a working diagnosis with you.
We will explain the available treatment options and obtain your informed consent before providing hands-on treatment tailored to your needs.
You will also receive advice on self-care, exercises or lifestyle changes to support your recovery.
Finally, we will plan the next steps and long-term management to promote your health.

Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave therapy uses high pressured acoustic shockwaves that travel through the skin to break down targeted tissue and stimulate tissue repair. Essentially it kick starts the body’s natural healing mechanisms.
Shockwave therapy is a research proven treatment approach effective in assisting many chronic musculoskeletal conditions, including:
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Shin splints
- Achilles tendinopathy
- Golfers Elbow
- Calcification of the shoulder
- Patella tendinopathy
- Tennis Elbow (lateral epicondylitis)
- Hamstring tendinopathy
- Rotator cuff tendinopathy
- Gluteal tendinopathy
- ITB syndrome

What Does A Shockwave Therapy Session Involve?
A contact gel is applied to the treatment area, then a hand held device is applied to the skin. The device delivers the acoustic waves in a controlled and focused manner typically for 3-5 minutes per injured area. A course of shockwave therapy usually consists of weekly treatments for 3-6 weeks, conditions more chronic or significant in nature are likely to require a longer treatment course. Most patients experience an initial pain reduction and a greater range of movement immediately after the procedure. This is followed by further improvement over time as the tissue remodels and repairs. Contact us to find out more.

Chronic Pain
Chronic pain can have a profound impact on your quality of life, affecting everything from sleep and movement to mood and daily function. At our clinic, we understand that chronic pain is often complex and multifaceted, involving not only the physical body but also emotional and social factors. Osteopathic treatment takes a whole-person approach—addressing not just the site of pain, but the underlying contributing factors. Through hands-on techniques, lifestyle support and collaborative care, we aim to reduce discomfort, improve mobility and help you regain control over your health and wellbeing.

Dry Needling
At our clinic, Dr Indigo Clyde (Osteopath) offers dry needling as part of her comprehensive, evidence-informed approach to musculoskeletal care. Dry needling involves the insertion of fine, sterile needles into myofascial trigger points – tight, painful knots within muscles or into surrounding tissues to relieve pain, improve mobility and support your recovery.
This technique may assist in improving movement and managing symptoms such as muscle tightness and discomfort. It is typically used in combination with other manual therapy, movement and rehabilitation strategies as part of your care plan.
How Dry Needling Works
Dry needling targets specific areas of muscle tightness or dysfunction. The needle insertion stimulates a local twitch response and may help:
- Reduce muscle tension and spasm
- Improve blood flow and oxygenation
- Decrease pain by modulating the nervous system
- Restore normal movement patterns
You may feel a dull ache, twitch or pressure during treatment, followed by a sense of release. Mild soreness is common but typically short-lived.
Is It Right for You?
Dry needling is not a one-size-fits-all treatment. It works best as part of a tailored plan that includes osteopathic assessment, hands-on treatment, education and active rehabilitation. Dr Indigo Clyde (Osteopath) will assess whether it’s appropriate for your condition, explain the process and guide you through every step to ensure comfort and effectiveness.

Cupping
At our clinic, Dr Indigo Clyde (Osteopath) offers cupping therapy as part of her comprehensive, evidence-informed approach to musculoskeletal care. Cupping involves the application of vacuum suction cups to the skin, creating negative pressure that draws the soft tissue upwards. It may be used over muscles, fascia or trigger points to support changes in circulation, tissue mobility and symptoms such as muscular tension or discomfort.
This technique is typically used in conjunction with other manual therapy, movement-based treatment and rehabilitation strategies as part of your personalised care plan.
How Cupping Works
Cupping creates a local mechanical and circulatory effect that may help:
- Promote local blood flow and oxygenation
- Support lymphatic drainage
- Release muscle or fascial tension
- Improve movement and tissue pliability
During cupping, you may feel a pulling or stretching sensation. Temporary skin marks or bruising may occur in the areas where cups are applied. These marks usually resolve within a few days.
Is It Right for You?
Cupping is not a one-size-fits-all treatment and is offered based on clinical assessment. Dr Indigo Clyde (Osteopath) will determine whether cupping may be appropriate for your presentation, explain the process clearly and discuss what you can expect from the treatment.
